My Review of the Logitech Wireless Headset F540

Logitech F540 Review

Ever since I got my Xbox 360 for Christmas last year, I have been obsessed with staying up for hours on end playing games by myself or with my friends. The problem that this has caused is that I am constantly waking everyone up in my house with the noise from the games. My wife finally gave me an ultimatum that I needed to choose between getting a divorce or to stop playing games at night with the sound turned up. (yes, she can be extreme sometime). My solution was to keep playing games at night AND keep the sound up. My only consolation to her demand was that I started wearing a Logitech Wireless Headset F540. I have had this headset for almost two months now. Since this headset has saved my marriage I wanted to give my honest feedback.

Logitech F540 buttonLogitech has provided all the controls you need on the right ear cup of the headset. The ear cup has 2 volume control rollers. These rollers control the volume of the game play and the chat volume.

On the side of the ear cup are the on/off switch and the input button. With the input button you can easily switch between the different devices you have connected to the audio ports on the base station.

Wireless

Logitech F540 Box WirelessMost people are hesitant to buy wireless headphones because they believe there will be a lag in hearing the sound. Logitech has addressed this concern by streaming uncompressed audio to the headset that allows you to hear the sound without experiencing any lag. Wireless headsets also have the advantage of not having any wires that limit your ability to move around. With no wires you will not have anything to trip over either.

Multiple Audio Inputs

The headsets can be used to connect up to 3 different audio sources. The 3 audio inputs are labeled PS3, Xbox 360 and Aux In. You can easily toggle between the different audio sources using the input button on the ear cup. With the auxiliary audio input you can connect your TV, movies, or MP3 players.

No Battery Needed

The headset is rechargeable. You can go up to 10 hours on a charge. To recharge you plug in the headset to the base station. The base station will completely charge the headset and have it ready for your game playing the next night. If your headset is low and you want to keep playing, you can plug in the headset while wearing so that it charges while you are playing. Since the headset is rechargeable, you do not have to worry about buying another battery.

Warranty

Logitech provides a 1 year limited hardware warranty.

My Final Input

The Logitech F540 Wireless Headset is durable and produces a high quality sound. It can be used with many different gaming consoles and other audio sources. The wireless feature allows you to move around while playing and not have to worry about tripping over wires. Logitech G930 Review

I set out to review the Logitech Wireless Gaming Headset G930 with 7.1 Surround Sound to see if it met my gaming, movie watching, music listening and VOIP calling needs. So I designed a field test that would help me test the G930′s sound quality, voice quality, comfort and affordability, which will then determine if the headset is any good or not.

Sound Quality TestLogitech G930 Wireless

First, I set out to test the sound quality. I tested the quality by using the Logitech Wireless Gaming Headset G930 as I would in a real life situation. For this test, it’s as if I just got the headset home and I was about to go about my regular gaming/listening/watching and calling activities. First, I jumped onto my favorite MMORPG and tested the sound quality of the 7.1 surround sound along with my voice quality as I spoke with other gamers during my campaigns. Then, I listened to my favorite music as though I would on any given day. I didn’t think as though I was testing anything. I just gauged whether or not I had the experience I believe I should have. Finally, I watch a movie from beginning to end.

When I was finished with each portion of the test, I immediately wrote down my findings. At the end of the entire field test, I found that, even though the headset is wireless, the sound is detailed and you can hear things that you normally wouldn’t hear in other headphones. In fact, the movie I watched, ‘Heat’ with Robert DeNiro and Al Pacino, I’d seen a million times. But I heard things in that movie that I’d never heard before. My voice, too, came through crystal clear. I was very pleased throughout the entire sound test.

Logitech G930 Top ViewI was surprised. I thought that the G930 would emit a bunch of static since it’s wireless but  there was no static at all. I was very impressed.

Comfort Test

Next, I set out to test comfort. For this test, I wore the Logitech Wireless Gaming Headset G930 all day. Even when I wasn’t listening to the headphones, I wore them on my head. My plan was to mark the exact second when they began to feel uncomfortable and the very moment that I just had to take them off because I couldn’t take it anymore. With the Logitech G930, I managed to wear the headphones for six hours and even then I just noticed the pressure on my head. At no point did I feel like I needed to rip them off my head to throw at the wall.

Part of the reason why I was able to wear them for so long was due to the headset’s ergonomic design. It fits snugly on your head and there’s no pressure on your head like other headphones. I just began to feel them after six hours but even then I could have kept them on for much longer.

While I used the Logitech Wireless Gaming Headset G930, I loved the way you can recharge it with a USB connection and that you can even recharge the headset while you’re using it.

The Drawbacks of the Logitech G930

I couldn’t finish this review without listing the cons or downsides I experienced during my field test. The first thing I noticed was that the microphone auto mutes when you move it away. While that may seem like a great feature to some, I found it annoying.

The only other downside I found was the price. It’s over $100, which is fairly expensive. But if you want quality, sometimes you have to pay for it.

Conclusion

All in all, I recommend the Logitech Wireless Gaming Headset G930 for any gamers, movie watchers, music listeners or even Skype callers. It’s hard to come across a good headset, but I think Logitech finally nailed it on the head.

Should you decide to purchase the Logitech G930 be sure to spend some time to check the price online to find the best deal.

Review of the Logitech USB Headset H530

Logitech H530

We set out to review the Logitech USB Headset H530 with Premium-Tuned Audio (replacing the Logitech ClearChat Pro USB Headset model) to see if it passed our strict assessment. The first aspect of the headset that caught our eyes was the price. For a USB headset with laser-tuned audio and plenty of other great features, it surprised us that the price was in fact as low as it was. It also made us a little wary. After all, you typically get what you pay for. Was the low price a beacon telling us not to bother? We decided to test the headset to find out.

Sound Quality

The number one test we perform on all headsets directly out of the gate is the sound quality. Not only the sound quality coming in through the ear pieces but also the sound going out through built in microphone.

With the Logitech USB Headset H530, we just plugged the USB cord into our PC and tested it using various mediums. We played an MP3 to test how music sounds coming through the headset, we played a movie and we also made a few VOIP calls. This test helped us determine that, surprisingly, the Logitech USB Headset H530 sounds amazingly clear and crisp. Music and movies sound great and our voices even sounded great on each of our Internet phone calls.

Should you decide to purchase after reading this review, be sure to spend sometime to check the price online. You could check this website first.

Logitech H530 cupComfort

Sound is most important when it comes to a good headset, but comfort is a close second. After all, gamers and movie watchers, and even people making VOIP calls may wear their headsets for hours at a time. If the Logitech USB Headset H530 turned out to be uncomfortable, we wouldn’t have been able to recommend it, even though the sound is top-notch.

What we found was a headset that is a delight to wear for hours on end. In fact, after a while you forget it is on your head. The headset itself is comprised of an adjustable, padded headband that can be completely customized to fit your head. The ear cups are also made of plush, so they wrap around your ear like a warm blanket, drowning out all extra sound.

Drawbacks

Even though the Logitech USB Headset H530 passed our sound and comfort tests with flying colors, we can’t complete this review without listing some of the drawbacks we found while using the headset for various activities. First of all, we found the Logitech H530 to be quite bulky for a good set of headphones. Other USB headphones seem to be getting smaller, while this model seems to be a little heavier than it needs to be.

The only other drawback we found was that the headset doesn’t have Super Wideband Audio like other headsets do, which makes for very clear Internet calls. While our voices did sound great on the H530, we already had a sense that it wasn’t as good as it could be had Logitech decided to go with Super Wideband.
